Lines We Love: Shimmy
One of the things we’re most proud of at Artists Frame Service is our diverse selection of framing options- all of which are sourced personally and passionately from around the globe, as well as products we design and manufacture ourselves right here in Chicago.
It’s one of the core reasons Architectural Digest has dubbed us “Chicago’s Framing Master” and we go far to find the perfect frame, sourcing from the finest European ateliers in the world.
In this new series, Lines We Love, we’re excited to share more detail on the inspiration and craftsmanship of these special lines – many of which you’ll find exclusively at our showrooms.
We’d be remiss not to start with a fan favorite - our Shimmy collection which we’ve been importing for almost a decade. Over time, this popular line has grown from six core colors, such as Cabernet and Chartreuse, to add five more hues into the mix, as well as a taller 1” cap profile ideal for three-dimensional framing.
Who could not get excited for a frame named after a burlesque dance move and with a finish like the stage lights reflecting off of swirling fringe and teasing tassels? Made in Italy, Shimmy is an aluminum metal leaf finish with multiple layers of hand-applied patinas created by innovative artists and frame makers we’re proud to call partners.
These vintage-inspired colors pair beautifully with the dreamy quality of contemporary photography and the texture looks great with all manner of prints and textiles. Bonus: Select Shimmy colors are available as ready-made photo frames for purchase in our showrooms.
