Meet Our River North Framers

  • Alex Barron

    Alex | Showroom Manager

Alex moved to Chicago from Dallas, where he attended an arts magnet high school, in 2007 to study painting and drawing at the School Of The Art Institute. With a minor in film and video, he loves watching movies both old and new and can almost always remember that one actor’s name from that movie you can’t think of.

Though he’s been a full-time custom framer for over ten years, Alex still makes time to work on commissioned illustrations.

When not immersed in the world of art and framing, he and his girlfriend enjoy long walks with their dog Mojo, making cut paper collages on the weekends and attending midnight horror-movie screenings at Logan Theater.

  • Nat is pictured

    Nat | Framing Consultant

Originally from Portland, OR, Nat moved to Chicago to pursue a BFA at the School of the Art Institute. Her background in photography gives her a deep appreciation for subtle details, contrast, and texture, all of which inform her approach to custom framing.

Nat’s favorite pieces to frame include American Western-themed art and black and white photography. One of the most unusual items she’s framed? Blocks of concrete from a client’s childhood home.

Outside the shop, Nat spends time in her art studio, catching live music, playing banjo and bass guitar and watching movies with her two cats, Arthur and Francis. She also holds three black belts in Taekwondo—ask her nicely and she might tell you more.

  • Rosa is pictured.

    Rosa | Framing Consultant

An alum of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Rosa's background in photography and printmaking started with a love of shooting film and printing in the darkroom in high school. Originally from Evanston, she grew up flexing her creative muscles in all facets of life, from studying Latin, to the history of hip-hop, as well as the philosophy of yoga. She still keeps that creativity fresh with ongoing art classes at Latitude and Lillstreet Art Center and by making zines at home.

Rosa loves framing sentimental pieces with customers, whether they are photographs of special moments or items that hold significance and can preserve a moment in time. In fact, one of her most favorite things she's ever framed is a super realistic pastel portrait of her cat, Claudius, drawn by a friend. It lives in a gold frame, matted with an oval opening and gold painted bevel, and is the star of her living room.
