Five Things To Know About Prisma Frames

We've given lots of color to our clearly colorful Prisma line of custom acrylic frames over the years - from how to design with a Prisma from A to Z to visualizing the difference with the online Prisma visualizer. We've even got a whole selection of photo frames made exclusively from this special line.

That's because we believe that Prisma takes picture framing into a whole new spectrum. The ability to combine color, shape and graphic pattern allows for countless original creations that perfectly reflects each individual. So today, we're breaking down five fast facts about Prisma to enhance your next creation - whether you're a first-time Prisma person or a long-time devotee.

1. Thick as thieves. Prisma frames are created from either 3/4" or 1" acrylic for a slimmer or bolder profile - depending on your art. Thinner frames are perfect for anything on paper, while the 1" can accommodate a canvas or add drama to any art with depth or dimension.

2. From delicate to dramatic. You can also select face widths from 3/4" to 6 1/2" - down to the quarter inch. The frame width can take your designs from delicate to dramatic. While skinny frames go with anything, a nice wide 4 - 6" wide frame is particular great on large format contemporary photographs.

3. Shaping up the shape. You can choose from nine shapes ranging from sharp or rounded corners to convex or concave. If the choices seem overwhelming, don't fret. Our expert consultants also speak fluent Prisma and can guide you through every choice.

4. Crisp and clear. Prisma frames come in two different finishes - crisp and clear or softly sanded. We often recommend the clear finish for colorful rock posters and children's art projects, while the sanded version is a great option for softer colors and photography.

5. Colors and patterns, patterns and colors. Much like custom upholstery fabrics, you can mix and match colors and patterns to achieve your desired look. With 48 different colors and 21 patterns, there's no reason to stick to just one. In fact, some of our favorite designs have been a clever combination of multiple looks.
