What We're Framing Now: Emily

One of our favorite things about custom framing is that each project is as unique and individual as the person itself. It is often a window into, or a snapshot, of someone’s life at that moment - their achievements, passions and things they want to cherish and celebrate forever.

A much-used (and much-loved) motto of ours is to frame what you love and love what you frame. So, we thought it would be fun to share with you in a new series a window into our team members’ lives, highlighting What We’re Framing Now.

Up first? Talented artist and framing consultant extraordinaire - Emily

What piece did you frame?

As an illustrator and artist myself (see more here), I have been meaning to frame an illustration I created about a year ago. (Yes, even us artists and framers have pieces laying around we’ve been “meaning to frame!”)

In getting this piece ready to frame, I decided to refresh the color a bit and make a few tweaks that I felt would enhance how the completed artwork would look.

What do you love most about this piece?

I just love how this drawing turned out - it screams with personality which is something I always seek to express in both my art and home decor. There will be no missing it once it’s hung!

Why did you choose the framing combination you did?

Though the color is a bold, bright pink the frame itself is rather simple and leather-wrapped. I really felt the complex textures could speak for themselves while also providing a contrast to all the white space surrounding the drawing.

What's your favorite part about how it turned out?

I truly love how much brighter the finished frame looks. It’s something to do with the neon pink and green in the work that makes the frame look even more vibrant. It feels simple somehow, but still impactful. It really showcases the art as well which, of course, is every artist’s goal when designing framing.

Where will you display it?

In my studio - to keep me inspired and motivated to keep on creating!
