Hiroshi Ariyama
After spending his childhood in Japan and Hawaii, Hiroshi Ariyama has spent most of his adult life in Chicago working as a multi-faceted graphic designer. In 2003, after nearly 20 years in the commercial world, he turned his energies toward fine art.
His current series of multi-color screenprints are made using intricate stencils created from his own photography. This series is comprised of simple urban scenes enhanced through a very graphic manipulation of light, color & texture.
His intent is to capture an emotional point in time within each scene whether it be nostalgic reflection, simple observation, or a happy glance into a moments fleeting possibilities.
